Even Though Tony Blair Admits Iraq War Led To Rise Of ISIS, Apologizes For "Mistakes".EUROPE NOV. 14, 2015 Paris Attacks Were an ‘Act of War’ by ISIS, Hollande Says
Not to say that promoting democratic principles and
encouraging government “of the people, by the people, and for the people” isn't
somehow a noble pursuit at the theoretical level. It’s simply to say that real
political change must be completely organic and cannot be brought about via
military intervention or by covert attempts to support popular uprisings.
Importantly, this principle applies in countries
where the seeds for change have already been sown.
That is, you must let the process play out on its
own, even if the ball is already rolling.
The Gulf War (2 August 1990 – 28 February 1991),
codenamed Operation Desert Shield (2 August 1990 – 17 January 1991) for
operations leading to the build-up of troops and defence of Saudi Arabia and
Operation Desert Storm (17 January 1991 – 28 February 1991) in its combat
phase, was a war waged by coalition forces from 34 nations led by the United
States against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait.
An American-led intervention in Iraq started on 15
June 2014, when President Obama ordered US forces dispatched to the region, in
response to offensives in Iraq conducted by the Islamic State of Iraq and the
Levant. American troops went, at the invitation of the Iraqi
Government, to assess Iraqi forces and the threat posed by
ISIL.
In early August 2014, ISIL attacked Kurdish-held
territory in northern Iraq, and captured three towns in northern Iraq, close to
the autonomous region Iraqi Kurdistan. Consequently, the United States of the
Americas started supplying the
Iraqi Kurdish Peshmerga forces with weapons on 5 August. On 7 August, the
United States of the Americas also started humanitarian aid air droppings of food, water, and
medicine for the civilians fleeing ISIL in the Sinjar Mountains.
On the next day, 8
August, the United States of the Americas began airstrikes against ISIL
positions in Iraq. Since
then, nine countries, allied with the US in some coalition, have also executed
airstrikes on ISIL in Iraq, more or less in concert with ground warfare of
Kurdish and/or Iraqi government forces against ISIL.
There
have also been sporadic clashes between ISIL fighters, and US and Canadian
troops, several thousand of whom are acting in advisory and combat roles with
Iraqi and Kurdish forces
By April 2015, ISIL had
lost 25–30% of the maximum territory they had gained in Iraq in December 2014,
to Iraqi and American-led Coalition forces, leaving them in possession of
around 15,000 square miles of IraqIn August 2014, the US began a campaign of
airstrikes on ISIL targets in Iraq, and, according to American website Business
Insider, Iran also began air strikes against ISIL. Since then, nine countries,
allied with the US in some coalition, have also executed airstrikes on ISIL in
Iraq; nine countries, including the US, have conducted airstrikes on ISIL in Syria.
EUROPE NOV. 14, 2015 Paris Attacks Were an ‘Act of War’ by ISIS, Hollande
Says
Paris — President François Hollande on Saturday blamed
the Islamic state for the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday, as the death
toll rose to 127 victims, with 300 others hospitalized, 80 of them in critical
condition. he declared three days of national mourning, and said that military
troops would patrol the capital. France remained under a nationwide state of
emergency.
“It is an act of war that was committed by a
terrorist army, a jihadist army, Daesh, against France,” Mr. Hollande told the
nation from the Élysée palace, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic state.
“it is an act of war that was prepared, organized and planned from abroad, with
complicity from the inside, which the investigation will help establish.”
Mr. Hollande did not specify what intelligence
pointed to the militant group’s involvement. on Saturday, the Islamic state
claimed responsibility for the attacks, but its claim could not be
independently verified.
Paris, stricken by shock and grief, remained in a
state of lockdown, with public transportation hobbled and public institutions —
schools, museums, libraries, pools, food markets — closed. Charles de Gaulle
Airport remained open, but with significant delays because of tighter passport
and baggage checks.
In response to rapid territorial gains made by the
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS or Daesh, calling itself the
Islamic State) militants during the first half of 2014, and internationally
condemned brutality, reported human rights abuses and the fear of further spill
overs of the Syrian Civil War, many states began to intervene against ISIL in
Syria and Iraq, and three states, later, intervened or shrivelled on ISIL in
Libya.[258]
In mid-June 2014, Iran, according to American and
British information, started flying drones over Iraq, and, according to
Reuters, Iranian soldiers were in Iraq fighting ISIL. Simultaneously, the
United States ordered a small number of troops to Iraq and started flying
manned aircraft over Iraq.
In July 2014, according to the International
Institute for Strategic Studies, Iran sent Sukhoi Su-25 aircraft to Iraq, and
Hezbollah purportedly sent trainers and advisers to Iraq to monitor ISIL's
movements
