LUXURY, CASINO AND HOTEL, EXPANSIONS- a Serious--Major-Major, Drain on the Health Care System

Canada as a whole has seen a rash of casino and gambling-related crime. So has every province, including Alberta and British Columbia. BC and Alberta municipalities are no different. They struggle to keep up with a rash of crimes -- including the dealing of illicit  drugs, loan sharking, money laundering, extortion, kidnapping, possible murder, even suicide.

All  crimes are very costly to the TAX-PAYER. Luxury hotel/ casinos, bars, and gambling; have long been linked to the most serious kinds of criminal activity.

Then there is the family, social, personal, and psychological damage caused by the"PROBLEM GAMBLERS, POP(COKE, PEPSI) AND OTHER, PROBLEM DRINKERS"- as I'm sure we all agree, a huge drain on the Health Care and Judicial Systems as well.

But, I have seen no documentation about how the boom in casino gambling, lottery machines; THE CONCENTRATION OF  HUMAN ACTIVITY contributes to:

  1. Circulatory problems.
  2. Diabetes.
  3. The spread of cold and flu epidemics.
  4. Lung and respiratory problems.
  5. Obesity and/or Malnutrition.

THOUSANDS OF SLOT MACHINES,
 PLAYED ON,
BY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE
WAKE UP PEOPLE.
 TAKE A LOOK AROUND YOU.

We do not need half a billion dollar, LUXURY, CASINO AND HOTEL, EXPANSION that is far beyond the scope or affordability-- of the average, budget conscious, environmentally aware (with a 24/7/365, mega Hydro/infrastructure demand), family orientated, hard working, Vancouverite.
What we NEED is a facility:
OF Canadians (the people, living in the area)--addressing their concerns,
run and owned BY Canadians(the people, living in the area.),
FOR Canadians (the people, living in the area,)---
at a price Mom, Pop, Brother, Sister,
can afford and that Canada can afford.
WHAT WE NEED IN THE AREA-- IS SOMETHING THAT WILL BENEFIT ALL OUR LIVES-- RATHER THAN "SUCK " FROM THEM.
