The Continuing Saga of how the Insurance Company of British Columbia- a Provincial Crown Corporation-Taxpayers of BC Providing Sole Funding and Sole Share Holders Continues to Reward and Honour the Criminals of Our Society.
ICBC Hello Alex
In
order to move forward with your repairs, you need to advise the ICBC estimator,
the name of the ICBC Accredited bodyshop you wish your vehicle to be towed to.
He has
done a preliminary estimate of what he see at this point.
Once it
is at the shop, they will contact you to go over the vehicle and sign a work
order authorizing them to do the repairs.
If you
wish to have a full mechanical inspection of your vehicle, this is for you to
authorize. Should the shop find any
damages that relate to the theft, they will contact the estimator to discuss.
We
cannot tow your vehicle to your home for you to inspect and possibly refuse as
this just adds unnecessary claims costs when it must be at a shop in any event.
Once
the vehicle is repaired, it is subject to your comprehensive deductible of $300
which is payable to the shop. The shop
submits the remainder of the bill to ICBC for payment.
You
pick up the car.
Personal
items in the vehicle are put into bags for you to pick up.
Any
personal items that may be missing are not covered under Auto Insurance. You might consider making a home owners claim
if you feel its warranted.
I trust
this answers your concerns.

Subject:
concerns over repairs to and eventual recovery of my dodge Caravan
Take
the vehicle to Hi-Light Auto Body 1905 Commercial drive, Vancouver , BC V5n 4A8
which is exactly what your Claims adjuster (Debbie) was told to do in the first
place. That was when it was still assumed that the vehicle had been taken to
Unitow's New Westminster impound lot and before she decided it was too difficult
for her to check Unitow's other near location; preferring to have me incur
long distance telephone charges in attempting to do her job for her; or have
Vancouver police do it for her--which they did.
From ICBC-
Building Trust; and Criminal Confidence.
Thank
you for your reply.We will
look after the towing of your vehicle-Respectfully.
Alex Girvan: I'm wondering, just how long will it take this ICBC claims representative to realise that collision repair shops do not do electronic key programming and replacement. "The vehicle must be at a shop in any event"; so there could now well be three towing charges. Unitow will of course be expecting to receive payment for all even though the first tow was ordered through fraud. There is also "shared" blame here, as Unitow did not both to check authorisation,(with me for for the original towing order, that the person who did give the order was indeed who they claimed to be, or that they , which as it, obviously, turned out they were, illegally transporting a stolen vehicle and further " aiding, embedding, encouraging, and facilitating"criminal activity.
So much for ICBC cost cutting and "insurance protection" measures. However, ICBC, BC policing, and justice policies, continue to ensure that criminal activity; such as car/vehicle and property theft; continue to show considerable, virtually risk free, profit. In this case, at least a couple thousand dollars; while they as we all too often, also see when watching news shows, penalising the victims of all such activity.
We are talking about a stolen vehicle although she has obviously not been charged; nobody can explain why. The Vancouver police department talked to my daughter(the guilty party) via telephone, and informed her at that time if the vehicle in question was not returned to me by a certain time it would be declared officially stolen. Of course she would then be, automatically, guilty of care theft. Vancouver nor any other police dept have laid any charge, whatsoever, against her, even though they know where she can be found. Now ICBC is demanding that I (a wholly innocent party)am somehow or other at fault. They do so by insisting that I pay the $300.00 deductible of my collision/comprehensive INSURANCE PROTECTION??? policy. Yeah, you can just bet your sweet ass I will.
Even if I were not now put in a position where I am forced to choose between buying food, looking after my health or paying to recover my stolen vehicle, I do not and will not pay out money, to an insurance corporation; or anyone; because my vehicle was taken-stolen; by a criminal;well known to police. I would much rather; and will if necessary accept the loss, and tell ICBC just where to shove--gently mind you--both the vehicle and their insurance policy and the protection it offers.
