However, both the Girvan brothers resided in Edmonton Alberta; built and did the interior design on several buildings, including the Alberta, Hub and McDonald Hotels, and the Gem Theatre[next door to the hub Hotel (in my day, bring your own apple box, get in to watch the westerns for a dime)]. Grandfather ran Columbia Stone and Marble, the military rifle range while John was a member of the RCMP. The two brothers had much to do with the design of the original RCMP buildings in Edmonton.
