Scotland to Split From the United Kingdom and ‘Be a Nation Again’?
With
a referendum looming-- you know, like should have been done; three years ago;
for the teachers in British Columbia, Canada—critics allege an independent
Scotland would, likely, be very much at odds with the United States of the
Americas-- on many issues.
The
Scots—by birth, ancestral heritage, or even Self Identification--wishing it
were still true-- the Peoples of
Scotland, including many ancestoral relatives, and/or soldiers wearing Scottish uniforms or, at least, tartans, have fought, over several centuries,
and in so many campaigns, against aristocracy,
dictatorship, feudalism, government ownership, privileged majorities and or
minorities—any person or persons claiming, or wishing, unchallenged, unquestioned,
irrevocable power-- to preserve the
territorial integrity of their country from
external threat.
Then,
less than one hundred fifty years ago, grandfather and grand uncle Girvan; then in the Second World War; my father, fought to preserve both the British Empire and the United Kingdom.
In
the Northern Ireland campaign, even more recently, the Scots fought against
internal threat.
England is the nation that once ran The Largest Empire the World has Ever Known, a country so powerful that it claimed to "rule the waves" in a patriotic anthem—and all the world knew—“The sun never sets, on the British Empire, This is a title the United States of the Americas still, constantly, tries to; and has dreamed of taking over; since the birth of that country. If. you don't believe this, just watch star treck or most any oather U. S. made (I might also sugest, science fiction) movie>

And, t
last month a "political tsunami" struck the United Kingdom and this
once-mighty state faces being broken up.
What
about today? How and where, do the Scots Really see theThreats?
Polls
currently suggest only a third of Scots back independence, but the unionist
campaign is in disarray and the nationalists boast a leader who even his
opponents admit is a highly skilled political operator.
Queen
Elizabeth II has made a
rare intervention on the political stage; speaking after the Sunday morning
service at Crathie Kirk near her Balmoral estate in Scotland, the Queen told a
well-wisher: "Well, I hope people will think very carefully about the
future before the Scottish independence referendum on Thursday”.
Her
remarks were interpreted by no campaigners as being helpful to their cause.
British Prime Minister David Cameron will on Monday use his final visit to
Scotland before the referendum to say that a yes vote will lead to a split
"for ever".
The
Queen made her remarks after a well-wisher joked that they would not mention
the referendum. The Queen, (whose mother was Scottish)
remains above the political
fray as a constitutional
monarch, observed the
proprieties of not endorsing either side in the referendum. But her remark was
seen to tally with no campaigners claims that a vote for independence would lead
to an irrevocable break with the UK.
A
Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said: "We never comment on private exchanges
or conversations. We just reiterate what the Queen has always said: she
maintains her constitutional impartiality. As the Queen has always said, this is a matter for
the people of Scotland."
The
Queen's remarks, which were first disclosed by the Time’s Scottish political
editor Lindsay McIntosh, were warmly welcomed in private by the pro-UK side,
who are keen to impress on voters that they will make an irrevocable decision
if they vote for independence. The prime minister will reinforce this point on
Monday when he says: "This is a decision that could break up our family of
nations and rip Scotland from the rest of the UK. We must be very clear.
There's no going back from this. No rerun.
This is a once-and-for-all
decision.
If Scotland votes
yes, the UK will split, and we will go our separate ways-- for ever.
Alex
Salmond, Scotland's first minister and political leader of the SNP, is
the man plotting (and hoping to benefit both career wise and financially from)
the demise of the 304-year-old union of the two countries. He hopes, His fellow citizens
will heed the message of another tune, "Flower of Scotland," the
unofficial national anthem which urges Scots to "rise now and be a nation again."
While
politicians in the U.K. have lately been one of the United States of the
Americas staunchest allies —
often concerned with the state of the so-called "Special Relationship"
between the two countries — An Independent Scotland would likely be at odds
with the United States of the Americas on many issues. The SNP would rid
Scotland of nuclear weapons on moral grounds; it would also take Scotland —
which lies in a strategically important position in the North Atlantic — Out of NATO. And despite being a
significant oil producer, the SNP has already introduced what it describes as
"world-beating" climate change legislation with a target to Cut carbon emissions by 80
percent by 2050.
Moreover,
the Iraq War was "an illegal, immoral conflict," Salmond told
reporters at the Foreign Press Association in London last month, and something
that an independent Scotland would never have become involved in. There are many, many people in
the world who strongly believe that if the ever was such a thing as International “Justice” and if we are going to continue
subjecting offenders to Capital
Punishment; then George W. Bush should be hanged, as a Terrorist—not only for the human
deaths he was directly responsible for, but also for inciting war and for his- many
“War Crimes”.
Axis
of Evil-The term 'axis' was used as a collective term during World War II to
identify Germany and its key allies, Japan and Italy.
United
States of the Americas President George W. Bush used the term Axis of evil in
his State of the Union Address on January 29, 2002, and often repeated it
throughout his presidency, to describe governments that he accused of helping
terrorism and seeking weapons of mass destruction. Bush's "axis of
evil" included Iran, Iraq, and North Korea. "Beyond the Axis of
Evil" included Cuba, Libya, and Syria.
Then
there were also three “Outposts of Tyranny” as described by Condoleezza Rice:
Belarus, Burma, and Zimbabwe.
History
has proven, the only REAL“Axis of Evil" present in the world at that time was
centred in the United States of the Americas and George W Bush was the Head
Honcho.
Leaving
the U.K. would give Scotland the chance to create "a socially just,
economically prosperous society," Salmond added, and Not be "a country that
excels in nuclear weapons and dominating others." A senior SNP source admitted
there was a difference of opinion within the party about NATO membership, with
some members so strongly opposed to nuclear weapons on moral grounds that they
did not want to be under NATO's "nuclear umbrella."
True,
Scotland
might have limited significance to the U.S. and their DREAM of world dictatorship-
right now,
However,
Scotland is part of a network of sonar monitoring stations — built by the
United States of the Americas during the so called, Cold War, to track Russian submarines
moving into the North Atlantic — that could become
important should the U.S. succumb to their paranoid tendencies and so decide they
need to rekindle old tensions. Another possible
scenario that would radically change that; “in 2030, the expanding power that
is and always has been, China says, 'Can we lease a naval base from you
Scotland?" ... We'll pay you billions of dollars for the privilege' — then
I suggest Scotland becomes very important to the U.S..
Being a big country is not a question of
size and scale, but of the size of your ideas, the scale of your contribution
to humanity and a Sensible Balance of World Power.
So
don’t sweat about the Scottish independence vote. The Scots are not stupid and--
it’s all been tried before. ©Al (Alex-Alexander) D> Girvan. All rights reserved.
