Is Greyish Ground Beef Done?
I recently received this inquiry by E- Mail. My answer--Ground Beef (hamburger) is a HIGHLY PROCESSED MEAT PRODUCT. Nowadays with all the additives, additional handling, pre-mechanic tenderization, probable chemical contamination (same concern as BABY BOTTLES) from the plastics used in portioning and wrapping; mass production of large quantities, uncertainty of ingredient content,world wide shipping, uncertain temperatures in display counters, time spent in hot vehicles during commute too and from supermarket; YES; IT IS, UNDOUBTEDLY DONE; but, that does not mean that it is cooked; or that it has ever been in a broiler, or on a grill or stove.
As for whether or not it is cooked--the only way know for sure is through the use of a meat thermometer. Then, even if you have used a thermometer, you still have to decide for yourself, whether or not you believe. Do YOU really, truly, believe that you have succeeded in cooking all the shit out of it? If you really, really, truly, believe; then, my answer must be: YES, IT IS DONE.
