The riots after last years Stanley Cup Playoffs gave the NHL a serious black-eye.To make matters even worse, so far the city of Vancouver has seen fit to do very little about it. Vancouver and Canuck fans obviously had to be punished. Consequently, the "soap opera"script, (written or at least
somewhat revised last year), called for the Canucks to be knocked out in the first round this year. But, somebody goofed, the series was supposed to go six games. The same old excuses, the same headless chicken style of play, the same old scape-goat--basically the same players and theme- going from powerhouses and Stanley cup finalists- to
rank amateurs-that might as well have stayed home, in one year--
AND a five game series?
Come on.
It was all a little too obvious, even by NHL standards.
Such scripts work well in WWE (professional wrestling) where the fantasy and ridiculousness is part of the package; but, NHL teams are supposed to be playing a legitimate game-not just providing sports-style entertainment.
