BEDBUG BATTLE GETS A BOOST, MAYBE, HOPEFULLY

IT IS CLAIMED THAT  A PHEROMONE-BASED REPELLENT IS "SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE AND MAY KILL THE BEDBUGS ONCE AND FOR ALL".
IT IS ALSO CLAIMED THAT BEDBUGS DON'T SPREAD DISEASES.

Sleep tight.

I see that someone is illegally claiming ownership  of the above PUBLIC DOMAIN IMAGE of; Bedbugs seen in a container from the lab at the National Pest Management Association, during the National Bed Bug Summit in Washington--photo produded as part of the normal and expeed-Job Description -of a Government official or employee.

IT IS KNOWN THAT THEY DO CARRY THEM.
IT IS KNOWN THAT BITES ALL OVER A PERSON'S BODY CAN CAUSE SOME TIMES DEADLY ALLERGIC REACTIONS, DEPRESSION, LACK OF PERSONAL HYGIENE, LOSS OF SELF WORTH, LOSS OF SLEEP, INFECTION, ITCHING, SCARING--AND ON AND ON.
IT IS KNOWN THAT BEDBUGS DO REPRESENT A SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEM.
IT IS KNOWN THAT  PESTICIDE TREATMENTS CAN BE TOXIC AND THAT THEY ARE OFTEN MISUSED OR IMPROPERLY USED, BY UNQUALIFIED PEOPLE.
IT IS KNOWN THAT PRESENT TREATMENTS ARE EXPENSIVE.
IT IS KNOWN THAT THESE TREATMENTS ARE USUALLY HIGHLY INEFFECTIVE.
IT IS KNOWN THAT JUST AS MANY BACTERIA HAVE DEVELOPED IMMUNITY TO MANY ANTIBIOTICS, BEDBUGS HAVE DEVELOPED IMMUNITY TO MANY PESTICIDE CHEMICALS.
IT IS KNOWN THAT COMPRESSED AIR/GAS, HEAT , QUARANTINE, STEAM, TREATMENTS DO NOT WORK.
IT IS KNOWN THAT INSTEAD OF BEING A CURE; THEY MAY ACTUALLY BE INCREASING THE PROBLEM AND CREATING "SUPER-BUGS.
AND, IT IS KNOWN THAT THIS EPIDEMIC IS COSTING THE ECONOMIES OF BOTH THE PROVINCE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA, AND THE DOMINION OF CANADA, MILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR.
A local company is working on an antidote to Canada's, North America's, Vancouver's ever increasing, ever more costly; bedbug epidemic.
SemiosBIO Technologies has been developing a pesticide-free solution, using pheromones--natural scents--that can attract and/or repel the nasty little critters.
"We go in and use this pheromone product to modify a bedbugs behaviour," said Dr. Michael Gilbert, president and chief scientific officer. "We  can...prevent bedbugs from infesting the bed; or prevent them from going into a suitcase.' She does not mention whether or not this product can prevent bedbugs from being carried in on persons body, in belts, clothing, or shoes; or whether on not it would be safe to carry on person.
Dr. Gilbert expects the product to be ON THE MARKET WITHIN THE NEXT TWO YEARS. It will come in a sachet form, with slow release mechanisms, which  will be available in different applications and sizes.
Mark Townsend, with the Portland Hotel society said he's happy someone is addressing the problem and is attempting to come up with an alternative solution, but he would prefer something that will permanently get rid of the blood-sucking parasites.
I'm eternally optimistic-- that someone-- can invent something-- that presents an easy CURE to the problem--outside of DDT, which, obviously, we wouldn't want to be using," Townsend said. Townsend also said"All of these things are better than nothing, but we really want something that's safe for human beings and (kills) the bedbugs--once and for all.
WE KNOW THAT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN, BUT MAYBE, HOPEFULLY; ONE DAY, WE  MAY GET BACK SOME OF THE  CONTROL THAT WE HAD WHEN WE DID USE DDT.
